The Adventures of AK

We're home! Jer and I got home from Alaska just a week before school started and I couldn't be more excited to see some familiar faces! Jeremy on the other hand was a little sad to be leaving a fishermans dream place.  Where we lived didn't have wi-fi so we had to drive down to the public library to get online, therefore my blog has not been updated since May when we first arrived to Girdwood.

Just a few minor adventures happened this summer like...all night fishing trips in the rain with my lovely persuasive husband, running into bears on my way to work, my birthday, our one year anniversary, and selling our car the exact day we left for the lower 48!

This is my 28 inch fish that yes I caught! This is a picture of our first all night adventure fishing...there were two all nighters this summer.

And this is Jeremy's 30 incher! He got to be quite the fisherman this summer..even more so than what he already was! Toward the end of the summer he would wake up at 5:30 drive down to his fishing whole, catch his limit for the day and be to work on time at 7:30. He absolutely loved every minute of it!

Unfortunately I can't put the video of the bear I came across on my way to work form my phone to the computer but lets just say I'm still alive even though this bear was only 15 yards from the walking trail I was on! It was awesome and surprisingly I wasn't too scared!

My birthday + 3 different cakes = One happy birthday!
Our cute little branch bought me a cake, my supervisor made me a cake at work, and Jeremy had dinner made, wild flowers picked, and a cake coming out of the oven all by the time I got home from work! Happy 21 to me! Funny thing...you know you're not in Utah anymore when people ask how old you are turning and when you say 21 you get congratulated! "How old are you?".."21"..."YEAHHHHH! How are you still at work? I didn't even show up to work the next day when I turned 21, just so wasted!" ..."Yeah it was preeeetty wild last night eating ice cream and watching a movie with my husband..?" haha it was great.

Our one year anniversary at the Tepenyaki Sakura Restaurant!
The year flew by and I wouldn't have chosen to spend it with anyone else!
To make a long story short, we tried to sell our car all summer and it didn't sell. We had friends from our old ward who moved to Anchorage that were going to let us keep our car in their garage so that we could fly home. Bless their hearts!! The day before we flew home a guy called and told us he wanted to buy the car. He didn't even need to test drive it because he liked Honda's so much so...we sold our car! We have been receiving blessings after blessings and couldn't be more grateful for how everything turned out!
As crazy and fun and crazy fun our adventures were it feels so great to be home!
Dorothy couldn't have said it better, "There's no place like home!"

Here are some more pics that I thought were pretty cool ya'll might want to see:

Welcome to Girdwood AK

Yeah so this isn't even a picture of Alaska but it's from our 7 DAY drive. haha The drive is amazing and we will never regret doing it!  Everyday we would just drive for hundreds of miles because it stayed so light outside so late. When we would finally decide to stop for the night we would be in the middle of nowhere in a little po-dunk town and throw out our tent and camp for the night.  Everything closed so early so most days we survived off of crackers and Sponge Bob fruit snacks.  We saw so much wildlife that I'll never go to a zoo again because I've probably already seen what they have to offer. ha! In one day we saw 19 bears! Jer and I are just starting to settle into our little town of Girdwood.  It feels like we're in a completely different country! It's pretty laid back here and the people just love to ski.  Everyone who has an address here owns a dog, its weird. But all in all we're enjoying the adventure we're on and cant wait to explore even more!

This is me at the worlds biggest mall! It's in Edmonton Canada and this is a Amusement Park behind me! It also had an ice skating arena and a water park inside! It was nutso! Unfortunately while we were there Jeremy and I were EXHAUSTED. haha We really didn't want to shop around because our legs had forgot how to function from driving the past 3 days, so hopefully we can go back some day and enjoy it a little more.

This is what all the gas pumps looked like when we went to fill up...holy old school. And gas cost like $4.50 in Canada it was stupid but oh well.

Hooray for Alaska!!! We finally made it and it felt so great to re-enter the United States. Canada is beautiful but kinda weird. The girl at one of their grocery store asked if I wanted any base? To myself I thought...why would she ask me if I wanted any make-up? So I said no and went on my way still really confused until Jeremy could see what was going through my head and said "She asked if you wanted any bags dummy!" haha.  Girdwood is great and also crazy! We are enjoying ourselves and cant way to do some more fun things!

Oops!

Alright, alright, alright everyone, I know it has been FOREVER so I'm just going to do a quick slash long post about what's been going on since...oh December? haha.

First we'll start off with the explanation of this picture.  In February Jeremy and I were pretty much living at the HPER on campus playing ball on a couple different intramural teams.  One of these nights as I was getting late to Jer's game, I got a call from him telling me I needed to take him to the hospital.  Sure enough a kid had elbowed him in the eye leaving a big ol gash on his eyelid.  We were lucky enough to have the University doctor stitch us up for free!  While the doc was stitching him up I started to feel a little weak and as soon as I knew it...I was passed out on top of Jeremy while he was laying there on the table! ha! I woke up to "Teresa..Teresa? You OK?"  as the doc was calmly waking me up.  THATS NOT IT! I had to assist the doc in the procedure 5 minutes after I had passed out...well lets just say it was too soon for me to get back to work because I ran out of the room to find the nearest garbage can to hurl in.  Lets just say it was a night we'll never forget!

Next exciting adventure was definitely traveling around watching the Utah State Mens Basketball team!  Jeremy as you know is a manager for the team, and it has been such a nice job for him to have and has been great to us.  It has been a really fun year cheering on Jeremy's best friend Jared and going to all the games possible with his wife Lindsey (we even drove to Boise and back in one night to watch their game!)  I was lucky enough to drive down to Reno to watch the WAC tournament and spend time with Jer and our friends.  They played great and unfortunately lost in the Championship game.  Even though the loss was hard it will be a fun memory to look back on!

I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my dad! Yesterday he turned the big 54! I love him and hope he had a great day!  He's been such a great example to me in my life and has supported me 100% in every decision I have made...even marrying Jeremy! haha

Last but not least...WE'RE MOVING TO ALASKA!  Jeremy has worked so hard on getting a job that he would love and learn from this summer in Alaska.  He didn't care where in Alaska so he applied everywhere.  We were so blessed to receive the phone call from the Forest Service asking him to work for them over the summer in Girdwood, Alaska.  The first picture is on overlook of the town.  It's a small Resort town just 35 miles south of Anchorage.  The second picture is a picture of the Resort called Alyeska aka my new place of employment!  A family friend has a friend who own's the resort and hooked me up big time for a front desk job for the summer! Blessings!! Jeremy and I are so fortunate to have this opportunity pretty much handed to us and we were more then willing to take it and run with it!
I just wanted to thank all of you friends who are reading this for your support and love we have felt from you! Hopefuly we get a chance to see you before we take off in a few weeks! We love all of you!

The Wedding, The Christmas, and The Fun

So its about time I update my blog.  We had a great Christmas break and a lot that went on.  Jeremy's little brother Jeff got married on the 15th and everything went great and looked beautiful!  They both looked so happy! Then after that we had our first Christmas together out in Manila.  I was extremely sick all week puking my guts out and Jeremy may or may not have forgotten all my presents...haha! It is really funny lookin back now but at the time..jk jk. He felt terrible and bought me a bunch of cute little presents at Walmart in Evanston to make it up for me AND he took good care of me while I was miserable on the couch all week. We are both excited to start the new year with our new years resolutions and are ready to take on a new semester! We hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas and the your new year brings you happiness!

Where is Manila Utah anyway?

When I first was dating Jeremy a lot of people asked me where he was from.  Well if you have ever tried explaining where Manila Utah is...it isn't the easiest place to describe unless they know where Flaming Gorge is.  The other day we were spending some precious time on youtube and came across this "music video" of Flaming Gorge.  Once I saw it I knew I had to put this on our blog to help those understand where Manila Utah really is! Hope you guys enjoy this fabulous song, because I know that us Catrons definitely do...

So here are just a few pics of us while we were on our honeymoon.  It was my first time in Moab and we both had a blast!...naturally.  We went jeeping and luckily enough Jeremy didn't divorce me for the jeep we rented for a couple days because we was madly in love with it.  We stayed at a resort along the Colorado River and everything was so beautiful!

First for everything

So my friend Tina Kaminska convinced me into starting up a blog so that we can keep in touch and that I can officially become a married woman. I thought it was a good idea seeing how I have almost graduated from facebook and needed something else to move on to. I still haven't figured out everything about blogging but bare with me and sooner or later I'll get some pictures up of my new husband and I and make this blog become a little more appealing!
